The 2010 earthquake in Haiti damaged or destroyed most building and roads.
Poor building construction and development on or near fault lines can be blamed.
Targeting these key issues, Unity Park is a community space along an existing fault line affecting the city of Port-au-Prince.
The footprint extends from the sea harbor, following the fault line, to Avenue MLK.
Phase 2 could extend to Delams 105, near the village of Delmas.
The fault line directs this linear journey and is a reminder of unity created by rebuilding the city after nature's strike.
Areas of this site will focus on reflection where as others will focus on a united community through art and expression.

There are three main interaction areas within the community center.
Each one of these zones will come together differently with the center and serve a different purpose within the program.
Market/Commercial could have many different functions within the center such as street art and art galleries, theater performances, music stage, film screening, and vendor stalls.
Housing/Residential might incorporate recreational areas/exercise classrooms, picnic/eating areas, gardening, education, and remembrance/memorial space for the loved ones lost in the disaster.
The Fort/Educational could serve as part of a historical museum and an educational exhibit showing the destruction and earthquake information as well as the proper construction of buildings to inspire future generations of Haitians.
